Hi! My name is Rylee Price, and I'm a psychology major & education minor in my third year here at FSU. I grew up in south Florida in a small area and have lived there for most of my life, but I also lived in Arizona and Ohio when I was younger. After I get my degree I would love to go into counseling, whether it be in schools or wherever - I'm passionate about psychology and helping others. I also have a dog named Jack who is a black lab :)
I have a variety of experience using technology in an educational setting. First of all, I am a Resident Assistant at FSU, and we are required to make a number of projects for the halls, staff meetings, committees, and other things. I use Canva regularly for this to design fun-looking posters/flyers and interesting handouts. I have also used technology in class for a long time. Starting in 2020, most classes went online, and I was in my senior year of high school, so that academic year was completed entirely through Canvas. We started by using discussion boards and other features on this site, but ever since the pandemic has started, many instructors have started branching out and using other sites that I've learned to use too. We also began using Zoom around this time, which has since been very important.
My personal learning network has been growing for a while, but mostly I think about my college-level network. Professors, other students, TAs, and tutors are all people who are used as resources in college. College students also have a lot of online resources, like Canvas, Outlook, and other sites that the school uses. Looking outside of school exclusively, there are other sites - LinkedIn, etc. - that help with professional and personal development as well. Other than this, my PLN mostly consists of friends and family who've helped me learn different things over the years.
Hi Rylee!! Its really nice to meet you, I also grew up in south Florida and have lived there my whole life. Being so far south Tallahassee is so cold compared to back home! I think its really cool that you're an RA! I'm a first year living on campus and I always love looking at how creative the RA's in my hall get with the posters and name tags. I also think my PLN mostly consists of professors, and other university staff, yet I also get lots of support from friends and family members.
ReplyDeleteHello! Its nice that you've had real-world opportunities to utilize these programs and skills, it will be extremely beneficial in your future endeavors. Classes going online was definitely helpful in computer literacy , especially for educational technologies.
